Preparing outdoor activities for children is often time-consuming, but usually very easy. However, it depends on how old the children are. The younger they are, the easier the task. As children get older, does this rule apply? Do bigger children find it harder to find fun? What about adult children? What if adults want to have fun outside too?
But they don\’t want to be buried in soccer, volleyball, and other traditional activities. Do they have a choice? How about going to an outdoor center and trying something non-traditional disciplines? Here are a few to choose from.
Low and high ropes
Confidence and balance are keys to success. This activity will test everyone. A practice rope a few inches above the ground will test your ability to coordinate your movements and perhaps trust the person belaying you from the ground. Moving to higher ground, even on a rope ladder, makes the situation tougher, as fear of heights undermines many daredevils.
Overcome yourself and take that first crucial step into the unknown, flexing your legs and arms, literally testing your muscles. The pride you feel in yourself after successfully completing a task is irreplaceable.
Archery
Something as primitive as hitting a target with a bow cannot be enjoyed for very long. Many of us, after all, tried to shoot as children by stretching an eraser between bent branches. Modern bows, however, are different. Still, when the arrow comes as close as possible to the center of the target, you will be frenzied with joy.
Paintball
Transition from the computer to the field. Gentlemen in particular thrive on this activity. They have practiced it many times on the computer, and now they are comfortable trying it out on their friends, maybe even their loving wives…they have BB bullets in their hands, they are excited, and at the same time they feel a natural fear. They shoot, but quickly duck for cover again, reaching their target as quickly as possible or taking their opponent\’s flag. Was the computer training worth it?
