Are you still waiting for a spring day when you can start working in your garden? Here\’s good news for you. Late February and early March is the perfect time to start planting vegetables. You can plant a variety of tomatoes and peppers. Herbs too. Parsley, chives, thyme, basil, and more. We never sow outside. We leave them at home. Until the frost comes and the seedlings are ready to be planted in the beds.
What will we need? Don\’t worry, not much is needed. Seedlings are an absolute must. You can buy seedlings at gardening stores or large department stores. By this time, the shelves should be full of seedlings. Just choose the ones that suit you best. Next, you need soil. The most ideal way to do this is to buy sowing medium. You can be sure that it contains enough of the substances needed for the seeds. Next, you need a suitable tray or small pot in which to plant the seeds. Some special seed sowing containers have separate hoppers for each seed. These containers are usually made of plastic and have a plastic cover.
If you do not have such a tray, it does not matter if you drill holes in the yogurt cup to allow the soil to absorb enough water. Excess water can also drain out. Cover the cup with soil and seeds with a bag to ensure adequate moisture. However, do not seal the bag completely so that the soil does not become moldy from moisture. It must be sufficiently aerated. To aerate the soil and ensure sufficient moisture, it is advisable to mix perlite into the soil. Perlite absorbs moisture and releases it gradually. We make sure we have done our best with the plants we have chosen. Now all we have to do is wait for the first leaves to start appearing. It\’s fun to watch the final leaves emerge.
