Have you ever brought home red currants from your garden, your parents\’ house, or a friend, but don\’t know what to do with them or how to utilize them? You have enough jam and compote already, so tryBaked Tea. Baked tea can be made with a variety of fruits that you would normally put on a cake, such as apples, pears, strawberries, raspberries, plums, and currants. If baked goods are made with larger fruits, cut them into smaller pieces.
You will need:
-
1 kg blackcurrants
-
300 g sugar
-
1 lemon
-
1 tsp cinnamon
-
3 cloves
-
3 mint leaves
Procedure:
Place washed and scrubbed currant balls in a baking dish. Add cinnamon, cloves, mint, or other spices to taste. Sweeten with cane sugar or regular sugar. Top with sliced lemon and bake in the oven at 200°C for 30 minutes. Stir the whole mixture twice while baking.
Pour the warm mixture into washed and dry jars, cover the jars and place them on the table. Leave the jars inverted for several hours to ensure that the lids are tightly closed. Then store the jars in a cool place, such as the pantry. This way, a jar of baked tea will last for two years. However, it will probably run out much sooner, as the pleasure of drinking the refreshing beverage and eating the pieces of fruit at the bottom of the cup will be doubled.
Prepare a mug by pouring two teaspoons of hojicha into the mug and pouring in hot water. It may be sweetened with sugar or honey. As is well known, hot tea is surprisingly refreshing in the summer and warming on winter days. It is especially perfect for Christmas, when the whole house is filled with the pleasant aroma of fruits and spices. So, don\’t hesitate to start baking today. When winter asks you, “What did I do in the summer?” all you have to do is smile and make a delicious fruit tea.
